Instrument air compressors for offshore applications
Samsung Techwin has penetrated into the offshore market with instrument air compressors. We recently received two orders for offshore application; One is three compressors for Umm Lulu Phase II project, same project which we already made a contract last month for VRU compressors, and the other is two main air compressors for FLNG(Floating Liquefied Natural Gas facility). FLNG usually has used screw compressors due to small capacity of the facility, but as the scale of FLNG facilities are being expanded, they began to review the use of integrally geared centrifugal compressors. Only Shell selected integrally geared centrifugal compressors for their FLNG so far, and our compressors for PETRONAS FLNG are expected to be the second case in the world. Considering offshore environment, these will be made durable and anti-corrosive with appropriate materials such as SUS316 and delivered by 2015 4Q with installation in the Hull side.
IG, China Beijing 2014
Samsung Techwin participated in “IG, China Beijing 2014”(16th Beijing 8th China International Exhibition on Gases Technology, Equipment and Application) at the end of September. Customers in ASU and LNG industry also joined the exhibition such as Sichuan Air Separation, Fortune, SIAD Engineering, Xinglu Air Separation. Through this opportunity, marketing and sales group promoted our products in the full of air separation and natural gas applications. We have various experiences in providing the compressors to ASU customers such as Air Liquide, Air Products and CNOOC etc. Based on these references we did try to convince customers of our products and technology for their application during exhibition. In addition, sales and engineering group prepared a technical seminar for LNG and ASU customers to show our technical capability and establish customer confidence.
Sales Training for Middle East and Asian distributors
Samsung Techwin conducted a sales training for Asian and Middle East distributors for three days. The purpose was to train capable distributors in those regions to enhance their sales skill, especially for engineered compressors. This training course included an experience to see the actual products in customer site as well as information of engineered compressors. As this focused on delivering very actual sales information and skills to distributors, sales and customer support people gave lectures based on their accumulated know-hows. Contents included compressor structure, line up, sales strategy, and response procedure by customers and so on. In addition, they all had chances to visit our facilities and a petrochemical customer to see Samsung engineered compressors and the expander which have been operating for years.
