Roots? blowers supporting sustainable plastic
Plastic has proved to be a useful and versatile product that we encounter within our everyday activities. However, with the focus on reduced fossil fuel use and the impact of waste there is an increasing need to look at ways to make plastic a more sustainable product.
One of Howden’s customers has this mission at its heart as it looks to "accelerate the evolution of plastics into a more sustainable material through innovation and technical excellence".
Recycling Technologies, a UK based company, aims to take plastics, including types not typically recycled, away from the waste stream and transform it into new plastic feedstock through an innovative modular chemical recycling process.
The process involves a regenerator, which incorporates a Howden EasyAir Rotary package for air supply. The EasyAir Rotary is a flexible, but standard factory package based on our smaller Roots? blower range; in this case, the Tri-RAM? blower.
The process also has a distillation module requiring processing of light hydrocarbon gas. For this application, the Roots RAM-GJ blower is used. The blower is integrated into the module by Recycling Technologies.
As the technology gains more interest within the market, Howden looks forward to playing their part in this important step towards a more sustainable future.
